Each child will cut a large leaf shape from a piece of 9 x 12 construction paper. Use a hole punch in the leaves to show where the caterpillar has eaten. Use worm-shaped styrofoam for the caterpillars. Attach them to the leaves with a small amount of glue. Dry before handling.
EGG-CARTON CATERPILLAR
Cut the bottom of a cardboard egg carton in half. The long, six-cup section will be the body of the caterpillar. To make the legs, cut a small section from both sides of each cup. Paint the outside with green paint and let it dry. Glue the body to a piece of black paper. After it has dried in place, trim around the edge of the caterpillar with scissors. Cut the head from green paper and draw on features with a marker. Wiggly eyes would add alot too. Make the antennae from black paper and glue to the head.
COTTON BALL CATERPILLAR
Glue pastel-colored cotton balls onto a tongue depressor. Add facial features with markers, then glue on pipe cleaners for antennae.
